Julia Lines Wilson is a third year Master of Landscape Architecture candidate at SUNY ESF (The State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry) who focuses on designing with ecological processes and spontaneous vegetation. Building on a previous career in weaving, sculpture, and arts fabrication. She uses the language of weaving to ask questions about plant futures, ecological biodiversity, and human experience.
Ponderings
The act of weaving imbeds specific moments of time and place in warp and weft; the act of walking in a city layers step upon step to create palimsest. Each place holds layers of time. How can this data/experience be translated into map-makings of woven record? How do cities grow and change and move over time and how do we experience and then show this?

Map Histories
Grew up on Aquidneck Island in the smallest state with the longest name.
Moved to a border town on the Sarre and Blies Rivers in France.
Studied in Syracuse, a CNY snow capital, and Florence Italy.
Lived and worked in Gowanus, Brooklyn.
Tree-filled Philadelphia adventures every day.
Working anew on the west coast, a return to the ocean.
A return to the Gritty City, then a return to the Salt City, where to (return to) next?
